IT APPLICATIONS AND SPECIFIC GOAL OF EAI TECHNOLOGIES IN SME

Print
Collaborating partners and market interconnections of SME sector change frequently. This is their special characteristic in comparison to big companies. SME use a variety of business applications, using different operating systems (sometimes even DOS). This causes the necessity of transferring information by human operator along with all inconveniences of this solution. It is also a reason why SME sector pay huge attention to EAI solutions, but only those, which reduce costs and time of IT, implementations. This paper presents the condition and expectations of the SME sector.

DEPENDABILITY STUDY OF THE ERP SYSTEM

Print
The paper present the various aspects of the process of testing of the ERP system’s dependability .This process has been systematized using the procedures taken from the Polish Standards and adopted for purposes of the ERP system. Thanks to an introduction of same normalization and the unification of terminology, the testing of the systems dependability under different conditions, as well as for different systems, will be possible.
A review of MS Axapta system in relation to the dependability of the functioning of its particular elements, has also been carried out. This was based on previously presented instructions of the dependability test.

COMPUTER SUPPORTED TECHNIQUES IN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT REDUCING TIME OF ITS INTRODUCING TO MARKET

The necessity for quick responding to changing market conditions forces manufacturers to seek new ways of designing and implementing production facilities. One method manufacturers are quickly adopting is process modeling and simulation, often referred to as virtual manufacturing (VR). Virtual manufacturing allows engineers to view a computer-simulated version of how the final machines or processes should operate. They can eliminate process design flaws in the early stages of development, giving significant savings. The paper describes two examples of complex approach to solve typical engineering problems using advanced CAx system.

A DATA ANALYSIS BASED METHODOLOGY OF ERP SYSTEM EVALUATION

Print
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) are nowadays a software packages that can support all business activities of enterprises [1], [8], [10], [11]. The production enterprises often implement an ERP systems to improve important functions in such functional areas as sales, product design and technology, material management, purchasing or production planning. Absolute majority of them implement ERP in administration areas such as human resource, controlling, financial accounting or capital assets. The implementation of ERP is expensive and time-consuming process that often can fall flat. The enterprises that successfully implemented ERP don’t want to change the system long time to unique disturbances. But employers of the enterprise realize only the transactions in ERP that are necessary for property workflows and managers analysis. The lack of important data in the ERP system can result with impossibility of strategic analyses performance [12], [14], [16]. In the situation ERP can not support strategic decisions of managers too. In the paper an ERP evaluation method based on data analysis is proposed. The authors of the article claim that value of ERP system is consist of two important components: possibility for improving of critical business processes and possibility for critical decision support. The model of ERP evaluation system for project driven enterprise is proposed. The illustrative examples are given.

RISK ASSESSEMENT IN MULTI-PROJECT ENVIRONMENT

Decision making supported by task-oriented software tools plays a pivotal role in a modern enterprise. That is because commercially available ERP systems are not able to respond in an interactive on-line/real-time mode. It opens a new generation of DSS that enable a fast prototyping of production flows in multi-project environment as well as an integrated approach to project execution evaluation. In that context our goal is to provide a knowledge base- approach allowing one to be independent on a context or representation of particular data as well as allowing designing an interactive and task-oriented decision support system (DSS). The assumed knowledge base mode of specifying a production system leads to solving a logic-algebraic method (LAM) decision problem. The approach proposed complements the decision system with an additional module (evaluation module) and facilitates searching for possible solutions meeting company production programme execution evaluation criteria. The results obtained are implemented in a software package supporting project management in the SMEs. Illustrative example of the ILOG-based software application is provided.

3D LASER SCANNING IN DIGITIZATION OF LARGE OBJECTS

The economic significance of intense and sustainable production basis in Europe is well supported by the fact that production employed 27 million people in Europe during 2001 and it produced added value of more than 1 300 billion EUR in 230 000 enterprises with 20 (or more)
employees. More than 70% of this value was produced by six main spheres: automobiles, electric and optic devices, food, chemistry, materials, semi-finished goods and mechanical engineering.

INTELLIGENT DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR FMS MACHINE TOOL SUBSYSTEM DESIGN

Print
The aim of the article is to develop a new metodology of analysis and evaluation of Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) machine tool subsystem design configurations. It examines the use an integrated, systemic, global and user oriented approach for the complex problem of selecting among several configuration alternatives the most suitable for a specific case. The metodology is implemented using the Decision Support System framework, offering an objective tool to help managers and engineers during the design stage of the developeent cycle of an flexible manufacturing systems.

TOWARDS INTELLIGENT DECISION SUPPORT FOR APPLICATION SERVICE PROVIDING

Print
Decision support systems (DSS) provide decision-makers with an interactive environment for analyses of information with various models to help solve unstructured and NP-hard problems. The important aspect of DSS is a technical and technological approach to the design and implementation of the above systems. A traditional approach to DSS engineering and implementation requires a great deal of effort for its maintenance. However, the enterprises would like to concentrate on its core competitiveness instead of non-core activities like IT maintenance. As a result of this, IT outsourcing has became a very popular event. Thus there is a growing need for intelligent decision support tools capable of assisting a decision maker in many problems in SMEs (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises). In this paper we present the use of declarative programming (constraint logic programming and relational SQL database) as an environment and framework for such decision support systems in an application service providing (ASP) model.
